Laura (Skelnik) Thelander, 56, passed away on February 5, 2019 after a 2 1/2-year battle with cancer. She was the loving mother of Jacob and Jessica and loving grandmother of Steven. Laura was born at her home in Mount Prospect and delivered by her father, Richard. She earned her Associates degree in Special Education from Harper College and loved nothing more than being around kids (particularly her grandson).
You would often find her shopping for knick-knacks on the weekend with her mother, Dolores; snuggling up with her beloved monster-of-a-dog, Payton; or playing the penny slots at the casino. She will be remembered for her goofy sense of humor, her wily stubbornness, and her caring, loving heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven J. Thelander and survived by her five siblings, Ken (Kathy), Nancy (Mark), Cindy (John), Sandy, and Tom (Mari); two children; and one grandson.
Visitation Saturday, 9:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. at Northwest Highway, Mt. Prospect.
Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.
